Über uns

Samvedana Trust is a catalyst for sustainable impact in the area of nutrition, education, and skill building amongst the underprivileged considering the family as a unit and inclusions at the core.
Samvedana began in 2003 with a simple initiative – to make a change. It was much needed, it still is. Our journey was not an easy one. Samvedana is a Gujarati and Hindi word meaning “compassion.”
With a committed passion for children and a belief that education empowers, Samvedana reaches out to the economically weaker section of society. Samvedana is founded as a registered charitable trust in 2003.
We have evolved over the years deriving learnings about the needs of the development sector by working at the grassroots level and with the ones at the bottom of the pyramid. We are committed to nation building.
Initiated with 30 children, passionately leading our interventions in communities, we are happy to have reached out to more than 300,000 beneficiaries, having created a meaningful and sustainable ecosystem with all stakeholders.

Our vision
With a passion for contribution and growth, Samvedana has a vision to empower and enrich with inclusive as well as holistic interventions around nutrition and education by creating a sustainable ecosystem amongst the socially and economically vulnerable communities.

Our mission
• To enable vulnerable rural children with foundations and meritorious students with higher education by receiving a quality education relevant to their capacity and needs.
• To fight high infant mortality rate by working nutrition for infants and maternal health.
• Addressing malnutrition and securing education of children through committed interventions in Gujarat to enhance the achievement of related SDGs goals, further consolidated through building a sustainable ecosystem through community participation.
• To empower youth and women with livelihood skills.

Our projects:
With a 360 degree approach towards integrated development of the vulnerable communities, Samvedana works under the heads of these five initiatives-
• 'Vasant Pathshala' is about empowering rural kids with quality education focusing on English as a language tool and 21 st century skills to strengthen their roots and elevate their communities through sustainable and collaborative solutions.
• 'Akshara', caters to sound foundations for early learning for children from age group 3 to 8 years.
• 'Sattva', focuses on nutritional needs at the foundations. It caters to children below the age of 6, including pregnant and lactating mothers.
• 'Eklavya' works with the extraordinary students from municipal schools, gives them scholarships, mentoring tie ups and counseling.
• 'Udgreev' is about empowering women at the grassroots by giving them vocational skills and creating livelihoods.

Janki Vasant is the Founder and Grusha Victor is the Education & Outreach Director of Samvedana.
