Über uns

In 2003, ENVIRON - a group of environmental management for sustainable development was founded with an effort to address issues of environmental degradation and economic development of Northeastern region of India. ENVIRON is amalgamation of students, researchers and think-tanks who believe that proper management and utilization of renewable natural resource is the key to sustainable development of this region.

Objectives
• To work for the renewal of renewable natural resources and environment management for mitigation of poverty and climate change and establishment of a research & educational ‘Institute’ to achieve the goal.
• To work on solid and liquid waste resource management and organic farming towards maintaining food chain for balanced ecosystem.
• To work for conservation of wildlife & biodiversity through habitat restoration and community conservation initiatives.
• To create general awareness on water, sanitation & health education for healthy environment and sustainable development.
• To work for the development of rural and hilly areas through scientific utilization of natural resources and information technology.
• To work for the development of eco-tourism, handloom & handicraft and khadi & village industries.
• To provide health and humanity service to the poor and victims of different diseases & accident and in disaster affected areas.
• To work for empowerment of women, children, youths, differently able persons and backward classes and provide humanitarian aid to elderly people through establishment of ‘Old age homes’.

One of the major objectives of ENVIRON is to work for the “renewal of renewable natural resources and environment management for mitigation of poverty & climate change” and establishment of a research & educational institute to achieve that goal. Accordingly, ENVIRON has decided to establish the “Institute of Renewable Natural Resource and Climate Change Management (IRNRCCM)”.

Innovative activities
• Household Solid Waste Management: Through the use of “Waste Assimilator”, up to 80% domestic solid waste problem can be solved and a significant reduction of the roadside dumps can be achieved.
• Community Solid Waste Management: Community “Waste Assimilator” is generating both organic manure and bio-pest repellent through the use of biodegradable municipal solid waste in the form of ‘Micronutrients’, ‘Vermiwash’ and ‘Vermicompost’ which are essentially require for organic farming.
• Collection of Micronutrients and Vermiwash: After deposition of biodegradable solid waste inside the “Waste Assimilator” a liquid ‘Microbial wash’ or ‘Micronutrients’ is coming out constantly through the outlet after 2-3 days which can be regularly used as ‘organic manure’ cum ‘bio-pest repellent’. Moreover, a liquid ‘Vermiwash’ is coming out constantly after the ‘Assimilator’ is full of earthworm through the outlet of the ‘Waste Assimilator’ which can also be used both as ‘organic manure’ cum ‘bio-pest repellent’.
• Vermicomposting through Waste Assimilator: All the daily generated biodegradable solid waste can be converted for producing Vermicompost through the assimilation of microbes and earthworm.
• Solid Waste Management & Organic Farming: ENVIRON have developed a simplified technology for producing both ‘Bio-pest Repellent’ and ‘Organic Manure’ in the form of ‘Micronutrients’, ‘Vermiwash’ and finally ‘Vermicompost’ by using all type of daily generated biodegradable solid waste including water hyacinth, different algae, forest waste and agricultural waste through the use of “Waste Assimilator”.
• Solid Waste Management & Organic Kitchen Gardening: The invention is generating the concept of producing ‘Organic Manure’ and ‘Bio-pest Repellent’ at household level from the daily generated biodegradable solid waste. People can save significant amount of revenue by practicing ‘Organic Kitchen Gardening’ and can also take part in the production and marketing of ‘Organic Vegetables’ and ‘Fruits’.
• Organic Kitchen Gardening in Earthen Pot: ENVIRON is now inspiring urban households for the domestic ‘Organic Kitchen even inside the ‘Earthen Pot’. Through the use of “Waste Assimilator” urban dwellers can produce both ‘Organic Manure’ & ‘Bio-pest Repellent’ through their daily generated biodegradable solid which is essentially require for producing ‘Organic Vegetables’.
• Solid Waste Management & Organic Green Tea: ENVIRON has developed a concept of producing both organic manure and bio-pest repellent from the household generated biodegradable solid waste through the use of “Waste Assimilator” to promote ‘Domestic Organic Tea Gardening’. Green tea contains an antioxidant called epigallocatechin-3 gallate (EGCG) which is helpful in treating a variety of diseases. Green tea actually comes from the same plant (known as Camellia Sinensis) where normal tea is obtained and can be processed very easily at household level.
• Get Ginger & Garlic from your Plastic waste: ENVIRON has introduced an innovative approach on door to door collection of plastic waste in exchange of Ginger and Garlic. The idea of offering Ginger and Garlic is to attract the housewives. In this connection ENVIRON has introduced a specially designed ‘Tri-cycle Van’ named as ‘SEUJ BAHAN’ for maximum collection of plastic waste from source.
• Segregation of Plastic Waste & Plastic Craft: ENVIRON has been promoting different handicraft products from the plastic waste from the year 2010. The idea of promoting plastic craft is to use household level light weight plastic waste like plastic carry bags, different plastic pouch packs, gift rappers etc. In this connection ENVIRON is promoting ‘Money Earning Litterbin’ for efficient source segregation of plastic waste.
Wildlife
• CEMACEA Project: Conserving Elephants in Meghalaya-Assam Corridor through Education and Awareness (CEMACEA)
• CHGAAP - Local Stakeholder’s Meet at Roing: Local level stakeholder’s meet on Conservation of Eastern Hoolock Gibbon in Roing, Lower Dibang Valley district
• CHGAAP - Project Inception Workshop
• CLP ENVIRON Workshop: Training Programme on “Conservation Project Planning and Management (CPPM)”, Guwahati, Assam
