Über uns

Sristi Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in rural Tamil Nadu, India that works towards improving the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We use a combination of education, life skills training and agriculture to help people who are faced with exclusion, neglect and many disadvantages that limits their effective participation in main stream society.
Sristi Foundation was founded in 2013 by Mr. Karthikeyan Ganesan, a psychologist who spent 15+ years working with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Since we started in 2013 with an empty plot of land and a dream – Sristi village has transformed into a community, a farm and a hub of several agro-based projects, still retaining its foundation of humility and love.

Our vision
An inclusive society where all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are respected, valued and have choices to lead a holistic and dignified life. We believe in an inclusive and eco-responsible world, where everyone is given the opportunity to reach their full potential regardless of disability, race, gender, etc.

Our mission
Enable persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups to live as independently and as fully as possible through economic and social empowerment.

Our approach
At Sristi, we empower our members with training and skills that will enable them to lead a more dependent and dignified life. Our methodology combines education, life skills training and agriculture.
On an 8.93-acres of land we have created an inclusive and holistic environment that we lovingly call Sristi Village. Sristi Foundation runs 3 pioneer projects: Sristi Village, Sristi Special School and Sristi Farm Academy as well as further community support and environmental projects.
Through these marginalised individuals are given the opportunity to learn, grow and become independent whilst being provided with nutritious food, shelter and a loving & supportive environment.

Projects:
• Sristi Village: Sristi Village is an inclusive residential community which offers marginalised individuals and people with intellectual disabilities the chance to live, learn, work, and generate income.
• Sristi Eco-Farm: In a supportive and loving environment, our Sristi Village members learn how to manage and work an eco-farm gaining employable skills whilst regenerating the environment and feeding our community.
• Sristi School: We run a Special School for the children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities from rural areas,. The school offers education & training that aims to develop the pupils into self-reliant individuals. The school serves as an early intervention centre with a multi-disciplinary approach that focuses on managing basic individual and functional needs, physiotherapy & speech therapy. We take the advantage of being located on the farm by involving the children in basic farming activities that help to develop their motor skills and sensory development.
• Environmental Projects: Since 2013 we have been reclaiming what once was dry and infertile land through projects such rain water harvesting, sustainable farming and agro-forestry.

Karthikeyan Ganesan is the Founder and Director of Sristi Foundation.
