Über uns

Nivedita Foundation began to work as a social group in 2004 and was legally registered as a Non – Government Organisation in 2006 Nivedita Foundation has been working with various social and cultural issues in Chhattisgarh State and gaining good rapports of its endeavour. Nivedita Foundation works with rights-based approach believing in developing women's leadership and work through women's collective, in order to enable them to bring structural changes and to strengthen the collectives.
Nivedita Foundation has given priority to raise voice on issues related to women and adolescent girls. Nivedita Foundation works both issues women's rights, as well as human rights at the state level.
Nivedita Foundation is a voluntary charitable trust working for the leadership and empowerment of women from tribal, Dalit, and other marginalized communities. It aims at the emergence of a just and humane society that is based on values of social justice, participation, empowerment and equality, including gender equality, and gender justice. The foundation is also trying to bring lights to the issues like land encroachment, displacement, migration, education, health, good-governance, livelihood, leadership and so on.

Our Vision:
• A society based on scientific principles, free from disparity, inequality, violence where everyone enjoys the dignified life and there is no sign of repression, atrocity, exploitation.
• To promote humanitarian rights and culture through working towards Dalits, Tribal's, women and children from vulnerable and distress groups.
• By education and recognition, we can build a dent free society; strengthen local governance to safeguard the rights and interest of its inhabitants.

Our mission
Help construct a society which is: self- reliant, conscious of socio-economic issues, where there is a spirit of cooperation, where women and girls are appropriately skilled to undertake their choice of activities without hindrance or dependence, where there is leadership development while maintaining gender equity, justice & above all each having a respect for the values of others and each striving for the good of the greater society.

What we do
We follow a rights-based approach towards improving gender sensitivity. Our modes of intervention include alternative education, strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI), designing and delivering Capacity Building Programs (CBP), fostering.
• To achieve its objectives Nivedita Foundation has created strategic network with women and concerned stakeholders. Presently, Nivedita Foundation is supporting a women's collective called Chhattisgarh Mahila Manch spread across Chhattisgarh. CMM is an active, powerful and effective state level organization of voluntarily motivated and dedicated women and activists used to raise women related to issues and decisively fights for their rights and violence against women. From providing medico-legal support to counselling it helps the women to evolve as leaders, contribute in decision making for their own cause. Mass mobilization on the women centric issues is another prominent agenda of CMM. 20,000 women were mobilized on issue of gender equity, land rights for women, joint ownership (husband and wife) of land (home steed and agriculture) alcoholism and displacement. NF carried out study and made documentation on women's rights in Chhattisgarh.
• The Foundation also formed „Sabariya Samgathan‟ a state level forum working with the issues related to Sabariya: the most marginalized among tribals. This forum is working towards improvement of education, health and livelihood scenario along with their identity recognition as schedule tribe.
• Nivedita Foundation roped 365 adolescents girls and formed network named as Chhattisgarh Kishori Balika Sangathan which again formed active village level adolescent girls organisation (named as Kishori Balika Sangathan).
