Qui sommes-nous

Proyecto Mayú Foundation is a private, independent, non-profit organization, founded in 2014, that aims to offer free medical and dental care to the most remote and vulnerable rural communities in Venezuela.
The word "Mayú" means "to work together for the benefit of the community" in the dialect of the indigenous people of the Pemón ethnic group. With that word and idea in mind, this project was born from the initiative of a group of students of the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV) that sought to work together to offer medical assistance that is so necessary for the current humanitarian crisis that Venezuela is living in.
Together with volunteer specialists from different areas of medicine and dentistry, we move to the most challenging access areas providing free specialized treatments, education for disease prevention and collection of scientific and epidemiological data in each medical mission.

Mission
Serve the rural communities of Venezuela with limited access to health services, to provide specialized quality care; prevent and reduce diseases; and promote research and development of projects aimed at improving their quality of life while promoting the professional academic growth of university students in the hands of health experts.

Vision
Promote the health of rural communities with difficult access in Venezuela, generate epidemiological knowledge at the national level and promote the professional academic growth of university students.

Our work
We visited neglected rural communities in Venezuela to provide free medical-dental services. From our base in Caracas, we transfer our team of volunteers (students, teachers and specialists) to the different populations of the national territory that require our help.
Among the activities of our Mayú, we carry out house-to-house visits to get to know the community in depth, collect specific data for internal research projects, give educational talks on disease prevention, etc.
At Proyecto Mayú we are fortunate to have a large group of volunteer specialists. In Medicine we have specialists in the areas of pediatrics, internal medicine, gynecology-obstetrics, traumatology, ophthalmology, ENT, dermatology, cardiology, neurology, family medicine, infectious diseases and parasitology. In dentistry we have specialists in periodontology and oral surgery. Every day we add new specialists to our team.

Adriana Quintero is a Deputy Director of Proyecto Mayú Foundation.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
