Über uns

DEA Africa is a non-profit organization with focus on empowerment of young minds through the implementation of innovative ideas that will ensure development.
IDEA Africa is is supporting children and promoting quality education through building innovative libraries all across Africa.
We are a Non-Profit Organization geared towards literacy development with African children. We are currently based in Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Togo, and will be expanding to Sierra Leon, Liberia, Gambia, and Nigeria. We started this initiative in 2014 and as of 2018, we have built 14 libraries.

Goal
We strive to be the bridge between children's zeal to learn and the resources they need to nurture their minds.

There is a huge gap in the education system between the urban and rural communities, whereby the availability of certain resources is influenced by residential areas and lack thereof. We realize there may be other challenges that influence children's inability to attend school; so, we have become their voice by facilitating and building libraries within their own backyard.

Our work
• We provide deprived communities with library services which gives children access to a variety of reading and writing materials and also introduce them to very basic information technology skills to help them solve problems around them both in and outside the classroom.
• We work with communities to evaluate their needs, round up volunteers, and build libraries within 48 hours. Furthermore, this is a safe environment intended to be a learning hub. We also host annual reading festivals, facilitate workshops for teachers, students, and community librarians. Notwithstanding, we provide training opportunities for young people to build public speaking, technical, and soft skills.
