About us

Migration Matters is a non-profit organization founded by four women in January 2016 in response to media coverage about the so-called refugee crisis.

Our mission is to empower the public to have more nuanced and evidence-based conversations about migration. We produce bite-sized video courses that complicate commonly held preconceptions with original ideas, research, and solutions-oriented perspectives from leading thinkers in the field: researchers, practitioners, as well as migrants and refugees themselves. We have won and been nominated for several grants and media awards and are part of the groundbreaking Erasmus Plus Virtual Exchange consortium.

What we do
• We produce short, educational videos on topics related to migration and diversity to encourage more evidence-
based debate and reflection. We start with big questions, locate the most credible sources of information and new
perspectives on these questions, and package these in an accessible way. All the while, we strive to preserve
nuance and respect complexity.
• Our videos appear online: on YouTube, on Facebook and Twitter, on e-learning and virtual exchange platforms, on the websites of organizations
who wish to showcase our work, and directly on our website. Our videos also appear offline: in
workshops, trainings, and screenings organized by external organizations or by us.
• Some of our videos are packaged as courses, in which video material is supplemented by learning activities,
resources, and discussion via email or an external platform. Others serve as a stand-alone video series, to be
watched with a cup of coffee in hand.
• Organizations worldwide use our accessible, bite-sized videos to impart nuance and research on migration and
refugees to their networks and beneficiaries. All our videos can be embedded via YouTube and we encourage their use in your articles, blog posts, workshops, or classrooms!
