Little People of Kosovo is a network of national organizations or assemblies of persons with disabilities and minorities, established to promote implementation the Anti Discrimination Law and new Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, protection of human rights and development. The NGO Little People of Kosova is a multiethnic nonprofit organization.
NGO Little People of Kosovo aims to promote the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities and minorities. It serves to protect and ensure the full enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms of persons with disabilities and minorities, their dignity and participation as equal members of society. The organization promotes positive attitudes to minorities of persons with disabilities and seeks to protect them from discrimination, violence and abuse. NGO Little People of Kosovo promotes freedom of expression and opinion, and access to information. It also aims to focus on women and children with disabilities of minorities. In addition, the organization seeks to encourage the participation of persons with disabilities of minorities in cultural life, recreation, leisure and sport. Furthermore, it promotes international cooperation and multi-ethnic co-operation of all communities living in Kosovo with regard to minorities of persons with disabilities. NGO Little People of Kosovo aims to make the public more sensitive toward minorities of persons with disabilities in Kosovo society.
Little People of Kosova works in coalition with other national and international organizations for and of persons with disabilities and minorities to promote implementation Anti Discrimination Law and new Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities through full participation, equalization of opportunity and development.
Development the authentic culture of persons with disabilities pointed to human rights and foster young talents of persons with disabilities is one of goals the Little People of Kosova.
Multiethnic Voluntary Promotional Program of DMD – Disability Mentoring Days: We are initiating and maintaining public awareness campaigns designed to nurture an effective receptiveness to the rights of persons with disabilities by Multiethnic Voluntary Promotional Program of DMD – Disability Mentoring Days ( idea from USA) that is annual package program of seven campaigns and publishing monthly magazine " Newspaper to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of Kosova" as gratis attachment in six languages pointed to new Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The Newspaper will contribute democratization and freedom of expression to persons with disabilities
• To raise awareness throughout society, including at the family level, regarding persons with disabilities, and to foster respect for the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities;
• To combat stereotypes, prejudices and harmful practices relating to persons with disabilities, including those based on sex and age, in all areas of life;
• To promote awareness of the capabilities and contributions of persons with disabilities.
Hiljmnijeta Apuk is the president of Little People of Kosovo.
