About us

The "Dachverband entwicklungspolitischer Aktionsgruppen in Baden-Württemberg" - in short "DEAB" - belongs to the oldest existing unions on a regional level in the field of internationalism. Founded in 1975, the "DEAB" mainly promotes the exchange of groups that stand up for development policy in B.-W. and has a good look at the relations between the federal state Baden-Württemberg and the "Third World", in particular the development policy of the state government. The "DEAB" sees its task mainly in supporting and coordinating activities of the member groups. The objective is to intensify the educational work in Baden-Württemberg related to development policy. Almost 60 groups are meanwhile organized in the "DEAB", about half of them in world shops. A "DEAB"-conference with a world shop part takes place in spring and in autumn. The main subjects during this conference are exchange of experience and a part for studies with current topic from the area world shop, respectively general topics, related to development policy. Before the beginning of every conference, a circular letter is published the contents of which prepares for the subject of the conference but which also serves as a forum for member groups and other groups to introduce their own work.

The "DEAB" likes to cooperate with other organizations who are dealing with matters related to development policy, for example the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Dritte Welt Läden" (working-group Third World Shops), the "Zentrum für entwicklungsbezogene Bildung" (centre for development-related education), alternative trade organizations and others things, moreover, with parties, churches, environment organizations and other groups with common objectives.

Together we have more assertiveness: according to this motto, we want to look for further allies and we call upon everyone who wants to support this to assist.

We can inform about subjects related to development policy respectively arrange for contact with one of our member groups who have corresponding specialized knowledge if special problems are concerned.
