Qui sommes-nous

The Action Campaign for Endangered Species (AGA) has been campaigning for the preservation of endangered animal and plant species and their habitats since 1986 and is a recognised non profit-making nature conservancy organisation. The AGA is active internationally in projects to advance nature conservancy, to strengthen awareness of the environment and to avert the destruction of the natural resources essential for the life of man, flora and fauna.

Abstract from the project summary:

• The protection of threatened ocean turtles in Turkey and Iran
The beach of Anamur, in Turkey, is one of the major Mediterranean nesting sites for the loggerhead sea turtle, and hawksbill turtles and green turtles come to Kish Island in Iran to lay their eggs every year. The AGA campaigns in Anamur and Kish Island for the protection of the nesting sites and carries out environmental education sessions for children.

• The protection of cheetahs and black rhinoceros in Namibia
There are still about 600 black rhinoceros, which are threatened with extinction, living in Namibia. The AGA supports protective measures giving the animals a chance of survival even outside the reserves. The cheetah, too, could become extinct very soon. That is why the AGA is campaigning for the cheetah, for instance by the deployment of stock dogs.

• The protection of koalas and rock wallabies in Australia
Koalas have specialised in a diet of just a few types of eucalyptus leaves. Deforestation and bush fires have destroyed their habitat and their basic food resource. The rock wallaby is also threatened with extinction, since there has been a dramatic reduction in their numbers recently. The AGA supports protective measures to preserve the habitat of these marsupials.

• The protection of elephants in Kenya
The elephants of Kenya are still threatened by illegal ivory and „bush meat“ poaching. For this reason, the AGA supports a breeding and release station for orphan elephants.

On request, we can offer other net participants a consultation or make a presentation. We can provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
