Sri Shakthi Association (SSA) is one of the major social development organizations in Davangere district and other 5 districts in Karnataka state, south India. SSA is one of the largest non-governmental organizations in the state. It has a team of professional qualified staff with a dedicated team of field staff. Most part of the areas, where it is working is backward in all respects. The communities live in abject poverty and deprivation. The health and basic facilities have not made many inroads into their lives. Infant mortality and maternal mortality rates are quite high in these regions. Hence there is urgent need to reach them with development programs by which the team of Sri Shakthi Association would provide essential curative, preventive and primitive care.

SSA is running various activities like old-age homes, street children rehabilitation projects, child labour rehabilitation centres, special school for child labours, de-addiction hospitals, de-addiction rural camps, HIV/AIDS prevention activities, short stay home for women & girls, garment industry, binding and note book manufacturing industry, handy crafts, crèche centres, self help groups, handicapped rehabilitation centres, etc., in different places of Karnataka state with the aid from state and central government.

Considering its best services in the field of social and welfare activity especially the poor and marginalized women and old-age persons in Karnataka State, the Women and Children Development Department of Karnataka State had awarded "Kittur Rani Chennamma Award" during 1996-97 and the British government honored it to take training in Durham University, U.K. in micro entrepreneurs development, to become master trainer.
