Somaliland Youth Community Association (SOYCA) is non profit, non partisan, non political organization. It was established in 2007 by group of youth intellectual members composed of young educators and intellectuals of mix gender with different age and background information in Hargeisa town. SOYCA is dedicated to mobilizing young woman and men, to actively take part in the democratization process of the country. SOYCA exists, and has programs in all of the six regions of Somaliland. SOYCA has strong human resources who have participated in the implementation of different projects working with youth and has strong collaboration with youth clubs and students in the universities.

Mission
SOYCA works for the empowerment of the women and youth and vulnerable group in the community through education, human right awareness, environmental protection education of harmful practices and promotion of health standards.

Vision
Achievement of sustainable justice human right and development in a peaceful environment for youth and women vulnerable people in the community.

Main Objectives
• To advocate women and child rights.
• Empowerment of women and youth through women/youth rights education and providing basic gear for generating income.
• To create and organize institute co-operative capacity building programs for all women and youth that are living in the organization’s areas of intervention
• To demobilize constructively the youth former militias and help its respective communities from insecurity situation through the development and promotion of communities centre services and maintenance of cultural value and integration of socio-economic activities.
• To ensure the protection and care of PLWA and child neglect
• To institute and implement all international agreements such as these basic human rights, and national requirements for stable, secure and well governed administrative relating in all Somali territories.

Activities:
• Women and youth empowerment through education both formal and informal
• Capacity building on women rights education and peace building, human rights protection addressing specifically training on: Conflict management resolution, civic education, introduction of democracy and democratic principles, prevention of violence against women, gender fairness
• Creation of income generating activities through youth and women skill training
• Promoting the economic security of small-scale entrepreneurs
• Provision of safe child delivery through and the reactivation/construction of mother and child centers.
• Eradication of the negative social attitudes and traditional practices that is harmful to women such as female genital mutilation (FGM) through awareness raising and training on the hazards of such practices.
• To empower the youth in democracy, human rights education and good governance by organizing advocacy forums to disseminate information on youth and protection of human rights instruments

Khadra Abokor is the Program Director of the Somaliland Youth Community Association (SOYCA).
