The Galiano Conservancy Association is a community-based non-profit society and registered charity founded in 1989 and dedicated to protecting the natural and human environment of Galiano Island, British Columbia.

The Conservancy has been devoted to:
• land and marine conservation
• stewardship and restoration
• environmental education and public awareness

The Conservancy is one of BC´s first land trusts, and owns and protects several environmentally sensitive properties on Galiano. We also provide a variety of environmental education programs, and have active projects in the areas of conservation mapping and ecological restoration. In addition we maintain an extensive library and resource collection to which the public has access.

Major activities
• Land Trust
• Education Programs: From the Forest to the Sea Watershed Education Program - This program is the cornerstone of our hands-on educational work. It is unique in exploring all the components of the basic ecological unit of the watershed - stream, lake, forest and sea.
• Ecotours: Explore the beauty of Galiano Island with an experienced naturalist as your guide.
• Native Plant Nursery: We grow and sell a variety of trees, shrubs and plants that are ideal for naturescaping, gardening, or ecological restoration projects.
• Ecological Restoration: The Galiano Conservancy Association is developing and applying restoration methods to conserve biodiversity and preserve ecological integrity on some of Galiano Island´s protected lands.
• Conservation Mapping: The Galiano Conservancy has been collecting mapping data and operating a geographic information system since 1997. Our goal is to provide the stewardship community, including Galiano residents, property owners, government agencies and other non-profit organizations, with accurate and detailed information about our island´s unique environment.
• Species At Risk: The Galiano Conservancy recently received funding to establish a foundation for Species at Risk (SAR) awareness and recovery. The main goal of the project is to work toward the recovery of rare species occurring on Galiano island through broad level public awareness, targeted landowner contact, community based stewardship and monitoring programs, land protection and habitat enhancement.
• Photo Gallery: This section contains photographs of past programs and events.
• Library / Resource Centre: The Library/Resource Centre contains a diverse collection of materials on all aspects of the environment.

Ken Millard is the Coordinator and one of the Directors of the Galiano Conservancy Association.
