African Network for the Prevention and Protection Against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN ZAMBIA) is a National Chapter of ANPPCAN which is a pan African network that promotes child rights and child protection in Africa. It was founded in 1986 in Enugu Nigeria, at the first Child Labour Conference, and has national chapters in 22 African countries including Zambia. It is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.

ANPPCAN Zambia is a national membership NGO that focuses on creation of awareness and empowering community structures to build their capacity in order to provide services to children.

Our mission is working with policy makers, local leaders, communities and children in protecting children from all forms of abuse, neglect and other harmful practices in Zambia.

ANPPCAN ZAMBIA has the following Objectives:
• To advocate for enactment and revision of national and local policies, structures, systems, procedures and programmes that affect rights of children in Zambia.
• To create awareness, enhance knowledge and access up to date information on child abuse and neglect in Zambia.
• To provide care for and support orphans and other vulnerable children (OVCs) at risk of abuse and neglect by enhancing access to basic services such as education and reduction of nutritional vulnerability in Zambia.
• To facilitate linkages, enhance skills and support strengthening of institutions and community-based structure service and care providers, including children to enhance child protection and child rights work in Zambia.

Projects
• Child Protection: This project will primarily seek to protect rights of all children from violence as direct beneficiaries.
• Socio-Economic Empowerment of Households through Self Help Group Approach(SHG): Introduces literacy program; Enables women to build transparent savings and credit groups; Encourages women to borrow from their savings to develop micro-enterprises; Trains women in problem-solving and advocacy.
• Tackling Child Labour through Education (TACKLE): The TACKLE - project focuses on provision of recreation and direct formal educational support services to children withdrawn from Child labour.
• Direct Education Support: Project will cater for 400 children in formal education, that is, from Grade 5 to 12.
• Vocational Skills: This scope has a target of 60 young people from school to train in a given skill.
• Household Social Security: This encompasses 100 households taking care of most vulnerable children supported with formal education.
• Access to Recreation Facilities: To facilitate the development of children`s recreation facilities.
• Exchange of Personnel Project: The project is aimed at building the capacity of staff through sharing experiences within Africa.
• ILO Supported Child Labour Projects: With the support from International Labour organization (ILO), ANPPCAN Zambia is coordinating the implementation of Strengthening Child Rights through Education, Art and Media (SCREAM) methodology to facilitate elimination of child labour through the active participation of policy makers, communities, children, educators, artists and media.
