UPENDO e.V.Südweg 5
- Organisation d'aide
- Aide pour des pays en voie de dévellopement
The German Aid Association for Projects in Kenya, UPENDO, was founded in Damp (Schleswig-Holstein) in 2008, for the benefit of orphans in Kenya, as a result of the initiative of Gerd Blanke. The association has legal capacity and is strictly non profit-making.
The purpose of the association is
• the construction, maintenance and running of an orphanage / orphan village in Ukunda in Kenya (through the "UPENDO Trust Foundation", based in Kenya),
• the procurement of sponsors for the orphans, who grow up in a close family atmosphere, to enable them to go to school or to train for a job, and
• the support of facilities for children with special needs due to their physical, mental or psychological condition.
"UPENDO" und "MAWENI.", together with the "UPENDO Trust Foundation" are building homes for orphans Ukunda, Kenya along the lines of the “SOS Children’s Villages”.
The orphans who are taken in are recognised as being in need, in consultation with the appropriate Kenyan authorities.
We intend to enable all the children with adequate ability to attend a private school, so that they have a good education. As happens in a family, the children do not leave home until they have finished their schooling and have trained for a job.
Gerd Blanke is the president of UPENDO e.V..
